This is a beautiful hotel with amazing gardens, but it didn't quite feel like a 5 star hotel. The staff was very friendly and kind, and gave good recommendations in town. It's a 20-25 minute walk to town, and the walk isn't very nice (nothing wrong with it, but not charming or nice. After you've done it once you may prefer to taxi). I wish they had bikes available for the guests, it would make getting to and from town easier. They only have 2 bikes at 50 euros a day... A few areas of improvement: - because of Amex, we had a room upgrade option, which was in the villa outside of the hotel. These villas are very strange - the room itself is bigger than the main house, but the entire downstairs of this shared villa is very empty - it's quite spooky and the lights are off downstairs. There is also a kitchen with boxes of storage, or cleaning supplies, it almost felt like overflow or storage from the main hotel which detracted from the experience. There were some signs up and misplaced cocktail tables which made it feel like they sometimes host events here without fully cleaning everything up. I actually liked the privacy of the villa and the larger room, and the staff was very transparent that not everyone likes it, but I felt it could have been made a bit cozier and less dark. - the rooms itself were large and the terrace was nice, but the shower was terrible - you have to hold the faucet by hand (no shower head attached to the wall or ceiling) - the grounds of the hotel were truly beautiful, the gardens and pool and spa are great. But it felt like the area was unkempt, if you had a drink in the garden for example, it took a long time before it was cleaned up or your glass was put away. So there were a lot of chairs misplaced or garbage not taken away. They needed more service staff to clean the grounds between guests - the spa was lovely, fantastic massage and sauna and steam room and hot tub. The spa closes at 8, and we came at 7:30pm for a quick session and were told everything was off. If they were going to close at 7:30, they should say that instead of 8! It also felt really awkward every time you wanted to wear your bath robe and come to the pool area, no one told us where to go so we crossed through the restaurant which was uncomfortable. They should make sure to explain to guests how they should enter the pool so as to not walk through the bar and restaurant (which is the obvious option). It also wasn't clear if you needed a reservation to use the sauna or if you could drop in. They always seemed surprised that we came in. Overall, it's a beautiful, historic hotel in Provence. They just need a little more service to make it a 5 star hotel!
Tres bel hotel avec un jardin idyllique, on s'y sent comme dans une petit bulle de detente. Ideal pour un sejour relaxant avec un spa sauna, hammam et jacuzzi!
My wife and I stayed here in the Junior Suite with terrace for 2 nights for our wedding anniversary and from the very beginning we were left with a bitter taste. 1. The bathroom was pretty dirty, the toilet seat had no soft close 2. We left the room at around 9am after the first night and came back around 3pm only to find out that the room wasn't cleaned. We really only needed the minibar restocked with water and some sodas. We asked at the reception and we said we will leave again in 30 minutes to give them time to do it. They refilled the minibar with only 1 soda, not 4 like on the first night 3. We were in the moon to watch some TV and Chromecast was not working at all, said service unavailable. We kindly asked at the reception for them to have a look while we were at the bar for 2 hours, they never even checked... the TV was in the same state we left it. 4. The mosquito nets had holes in them the size of the whole door basically and we spent time trying to catch them to be able to sleep ok 5. The terrace was never cleaned, there was bird poop on the tables and it seemed like it has been there for a while 6. On the first night, there was some sort of event for non guests and when my wife and I came back from Valensole, we discovered there were no parking spaces for us, even though we were paying guests and not there for just a 3 hour long event 7. Stale smell on the hallway and stains on the stairs carpet 8. One chair in the room had a broken leg which seemed to have been fixed only visually but if you tried sitting on that chair you would have fallen. The only reasons I give this hotel a 2 stars review is for the breakfast and the kind people who made us coffees in the morning and for the nice garden. For 1000 euro per night, this hotel should really invest more into the rooms and be more attendive to the actual guests. Safe to say we will not be recommending this hotel to anyone or come back here ever again. We hope you use the 2000 euros we paid for 2 nights and improve the conditions a bit. Good luck!
My husband and I booked this hotel as part of our Provence roadtrip. As we were celebrating our wedding anniversary, we chose this hotel as a gift to us, however we were very disappointed with the room. We didn't feel like the staff at the reception was very welcoming (there were exceptions). The day we checked in they had a private event in the garden and they couldn't reserve us a parking space, which we thought was unexpected - to prioritize other guests vs hotel guests. Some parking spots should've been reserved to hotel guests, in my opinion. However, we were lucky to find a parking spot. When we checked in the room, we didn't get any other info about the property or room (like breakfast hours, pool access, service room). The room was clean, however the furniture and amenities are outdated and some broken. We paid 1k eur for a Junior Suite with terrace and unfortunately the room is not up to standards of a 5 stars hotel. The closets are worn out, the shower temperature is oscillating, the robe is torn apart, floors are crooked. The next morning we left the carton on the door knob asking for room service, but the room was not cleaned. We had to asked at the reception for this. We had our room cleaned later that afternoon, after we left the room again, but the mini bar that was supposed to be included was not fully restocked. The TV was not working properly. We announced the reception but it wasn't repaired. For this value, I felt like we needed to constantly ask for different things. We didn't have any special requests, just the bear minimum you would expect in such a hotel. The parking lot and access alley were quite dirty and smelled bad. The pros: good breakfast and staff at the restaurants, great gardens.
Solo pasamos a tomar una copa y un bocadillo. La atencion fue bastante buena !! Creo que la proxima vez que visite Aix me hospedare ahi!!
This hotel doesn't warrant 5 stars. The rooms smell rancid, they aren't cleaned as you would expect and definitely not worth the price they charge. For over 450 euros a night, I find it unconscionable that the management is this lax and not particular about their offering. Do not stay here at any cost. A very disappointing dnc to wonderful Provence
Le Pigonnet was an absolute delight! I highly recommend it. The location is primo for exploring Aix (or even day trips to Cassis or Gorde). The hotel is beautiful. The meals were delicious (breakfast and dinner). The patio/gardens were GORGEOUS (you will want to spend lots of time there: dining, cocktails, socializing, bocce, reading, etc). And the staff was fantastic! I would go back again, and again, and again ...
Incomprehensible.
This hotel is spectacular. We had a spacious room with an outdoor deck overlooking the hotel gardens, with a view of Mt St Victoire. I spent every afternoon on the deck, enjoying the spring Povencial sun. Excellent dining, with both a casual and formal option. Staff was responsive and friendly. A bit far from the old town, requiring public transit, which is excellent.
I expected a five-star experience, but this stay was very disappointing. I would highly recommend staying elsewhere. This hotel is worn down to say the least. The hallway to the rooms had no proper lighting at night--I had to use my phone flashlight to navigate. Upon arrival, basic amenities like lotion and toilet paper were low as if trying to be conserved despite paying 500+ euros / night. Lastly, the staff's service did not reflect the standards expected of a five-star hotel in anyway shape or form. Overall, this hotel does not live up to its five-star rating.
Bon accueil, restaurant delicieux
Pas du tout COMMERCANT je ne m'etalerai pas plus . A bon entendeur ( pour ce pseudo directeur ) qui devrait changer de metier !!!
This hotel was above all expectations. From the moment we walked in and met Elizabeth we felt that we made the right choice, she helped us make good choices, made our dinner reservation and explained everything to us with a lot of passion and patience. Beautiful rooms and gardens, close enough to the center but quiet and magical. The staff super friendly and helpful.
